Review

It was the main goal of this study to provide kinetic data of C4 alkene mixture hydrogenation in gas phase, obtained with real, industrially utilizable, catalyst particles, which can be used for the process design. A double tube reactor, heated /cooled  by silicone oil, circulating between the tubes in countercurrent flow was used for the data measurement. The tube non-isothermal  reactor was modeled as a series of 10 isothermal reactors, equal in length and volume, bur working at different temperatures, the working temperature of each reactor being calculated from a real, measured, temperature profile. Reaction constants (k, E)were estimated by minimizing the sum of squares of deviations between calculated and experimental values. The kinetic constants of all reactions were then evaluated by Aspen Plus software. All these constants vere evaluated at the same time by a single run optimization. Pengov-Robinson equation of state was used for the calculation.
