Review
The effect of initiator presence on the conversion and product distribution was investigated on simplified mechanistic model of steamcracking. As the example of hydrocarbon which is difficult for cracking process, the ethane was considered. Methanol, hydrogen peroxide and tert-butyl peroxide were considered as potential initiators. Cracking was modeled for the wide range of reaction conditions and part of initiator concentration range. Results suggest, the effect is the most significant in the case of hydrogen peroxide, but initiator is decomposed very quickly on the beginning of the reactor and its influence is therefore very short. On the remaining part of cracking reactor, the cracking process is also untouched.
